Please, I'm begging you- CUT ME UP!
Sometimes we get comments so good, that we can’t keep them to ourselves. Check out this DABA’s sage words in response to The LA LA Debate Continues post:
“This was so on point! After 20 years of basking in the OC and LA sun, I moved out to the East coast for an Ivy League law school education and I could not have described the discrepancy between LA and NY guys better myself. And I have to admit, I’m starting to miss chiseled arms and wash-board abs… As if the first year of law school isn’t brutal enough as is, finding a hot- by LA standards- man here with equal or better pedigree is starting to feel like a goose chase, despite the fact that the MBA guys outnumber us law school girls 9 to 1! But if you’re a girl who would be willing to sacrifice looks for success, I highly recommend enrolling in a school with a top ranked MBA program- its a freaking FBF meat market. The first year MBAs and incoming class of 2011 are just as pompous as they were in ‘06… if there’s anywhere to escape to right now, its to grad school.”
Like the mastercard ad…
Cost of the financial bailout: $700 billion …and counting
Bonuses on Wall St this year: $0
The luxury of sitting out the recession in law school/bschool: priceless

Just keep in mind that tons of other people are avoiding the recession by hiding out in B-school and law school. When you graduate there will be even more people to compete against as there are now, the extra grads plus people who got laid off and are trying to get back into the field.
When you graduate the people with the cushy finance jobs won’t be B-school kids. They’ll be the lawyers who managed to hang onto their jobs, get 2-3 years of experience, and are now looking to jump ship for a fat signing bonus.
