DABA Girl Weekend Warning Level: Yellow

I thought March Madness referred to the NCAA tournament, but looks like the madness has taken over the market as well.  With the Treasury secretary’s “new” plan unveiled at the beginning of the week, the S&P index was off to the races and up another 6.5%.  Yay!  The recession is over!!  Wait, what?  As Ali-G’s character Bruno would say, “Ish-don’t think so”.  Let me be clear, while this was a nice market move, nothing fundamentally has changed for the better and fellow New Yorkers are still getting the pink slips left and right.  If you don’t believe us, just look  at all the deals that are still popping up out there.  You should get your FBF to take you out to a nice FREE dinner at Essex Restaurant in the LES - provided that you can prove that you are unemployed.  They say all you need is a “letter of employment separation, unemployment payment history, foreclosure documents, Dear John Letter, etc”.  Ummm, raise your hand if you don’t have one of those?

Now, back to our boy Timmy Geithner.  The new Treasury plan reminds me of when my girlfriend changes her Fendi bag for an Hermes one while keeping the rest of the outfit the same and asks me how I like her “new” outfit.   Ahh, is this a trick question, pretty much the same as the old outfit.  Hold on, rewind.  What I meant to say was “you look fabulously stunning and the “new” bag really goes much better with those shoes!”   Except in the Treasury plan’s case, the “new” plan still blows and I don’t have to lie about it.

Speaking of Fendi and Hermes bags, I’ll do all the FBF’s out there a solid and tell you ladies to not only browse this website, but to start adhering to its philosophy, renting Prada bags is the way to go in this economy-www.bagborroworsteal.com.   Now, if we could only get those Nigerian guys selling LVMH bags on the corner of Prince and Broadway to let us start renting…

Is this the company that ships their rented bags anywhere and you can then return in exchange for another? I’ve heard of that before the economy tsunami but now, we need it more than ever. Good to post this for all to see. Thanks!

Is it possible to find a DABA girl who is interested in me for me? I am a decent hard working lawyer, age 35, with reasonable prospects of partnership, interested in finding a very good looking woman (under 35) preferably from the North East, interested in a relationship leading to marriage and a family. You can give my e-mail address out to qualifying women.

Bill, DARLING. This is Dating a BANKER Anonymous. No one, NO ONE, is interested in Dating a Lawyer. How silly does DALA sound?! Ridic. Take your desperation over to eharmony with all the other attorneys. If you were THAT amazing, you’d be looking for a woman under 30, maybe even in the 23-27 year range.

L, honey. If Bill was looking in the 23-27 year range, he would have written to fuck, not to marry.

-L-: I’m guessing Linda Johnsen, Allie on the Psssst! thread, and your friend SouthernGem all wouldn’t mind dating a lawyer. Most lawyers do finance work (project finance, funds structuring, securities, etc), and when the economy rebounds and finance firms look to replenish their ranks, they’re going to turn to lawyers (just as they’ve done in the past).

The finance guys of today are the unemployed of tomorrow. The finance lawyers today are the finance guys of tomorrow. Place your bets wisely.

I have heard the United States (only place in the world, that I am aware off, where law is a graduate degree) has 70% of the world’s lawyers. This might be an exageration but what is certainly not, is the fact that it is the most litigous society in the history of mankind.

Now lawyers add to the GDP, but I don’t feel that my standard of living is improved at all by the services they provide. Also I am sure there is a ton of potentially productive activity (which would raise standard of living) that never takes place because people are scared of lawsuits. Now America could afford it while it had a series of unique advantages which are being eliminated one by one as we speak. Do you really think your future is that bright? Finance will not be the same in our careers (there were 50 years between the great depression and the 80s). I’d by myself some engineering, medicine, nursing books if i were you.

you know… you dont ever know who’s ever touched your rented handbag and where it’s been before, and how many bacterial germs it has… and im sure the company that rents them don’t clean them when they come back either!

just spend a little more for a new germ free one that lasts a lifetime… cheaper than renting in the long run.

Albert: Most lawyers at big firms aren’t in the litigation department (usually 20-30% of the firm). Corporate is way bigger, and deals with structuring deals.
