We have to admit that sometimes we feel a little (or maybe a little more than a little) guilty about spending so much on shoes, clothes, etc. I mean, the price of one pair of Brian Atwoods is equivalent to how much it costs to support a child in a third world country for an entire year.* And by support we mean pay for their housing, food, clothing, and education. We don’t need that guilt on our shoulders- what if it keeps us from getting our beauty sleep? A serious fashion faux pas! That’s why we’re going to DABA girls Dang and Auerbach’s event tomorrow. What’s better than confession with cocktails. See you (and LL) there!

*prices vary depending on the third world country.

Call me crazy but if you really feel *so* guilty about your indulgences, why not use some of your money and donate to organizations/people in need OR even spend less time shopping and more time actually putting in some, gasp! elbow grease to help those in need by volunteering. A couple organizations you may be interested in: http://www.kiva.org/about/how (Kiva is especially awesome because you don’t even lose money - you loan money and get it back!) and Tom’s - for every pair of shoes you, you give a pair to a child in need: http://www.tomsshoes.com/content.asp?tid=273.
Maybe instead of spending so much time talking about how fabulous and desirable you are, you could do something selfless and fabulous for others (and thus, make yourself even MORE fab) that’s actually worth writing about.

Oh how I’d love to be in New York. Now more than ever. Can’t you do an event series and come to London any time soon? I am sure here are more than a few fashionistas that would love to rinse the stains of guilt from their Manolos.
PS: Third world? California relief campaign? Come on, Arnie isn’t that bad, is he?!

This must be a hoax. It must.

I believe that the PC term is “developing,” not “third world.” While I appreciate the intent of this posting, the posting comes across as rather gauche when you use an outdated, offensive term and compare (and thus trivialize) helping the less fortunate with shopping for luxury goods.

is this blog still active?

Amused: I recently traveled to a third world country and the locals called it third world. Besides, not all third world countries are developing, some of them are stagnating and some are in deteriorating.
People in third world countries don’t care about political correctness. Being PC is a post-industrial luxury.
